Next week, AHIP kicks off the Operations and Technology Forum in Chicago. This year’s forum promises to be especially interesting following the debut of open enrollment for direct health insurance coverage on October 1st – and the HealthCare.gov debacle. Sessions will cover timely topics for health care payers, such as:
- Operational challenges with the advent of marketplaces
- Personalized customer engagement
- Redefining strategies for managing costs and handling payments in the post-reform environment
- Multi-channel customer outreach
Immediately following will be part three of the AHIP Customer Experience Forum series - focusing on strategies to enhance direct-to-consumer marketing, as shared by industry leaders in retail, data analytics, and consumer behavior. As health care reform transforms health insurance processes, can these sessions provide clarity around the most effective next steps for outreach to the community of uninsureds? With the rich offering of channels now available (including mobile, big data, social media), will these discussions inspire new ways to align payer resources with consumer needs? And will carrier discussions outside of sessions perhaps be more telling than the sessions themselves?

From our experience working with our clients following the October 1st launch of open enrollment, we know that options to bolster consumer confidence around applications for cost sharing options and enrollment are foremost concerns.
